WE ARE THE FITC

The Financial Intervention Taskforce Committee (FITC) leads global action in combating money laundering, terrorist and proliferation financing. We research on how money is laundered, terrorism funded, and nuclear proliferated to promotes global standards in mitigating the risks, while assessing whether countries are taking effective action.

What We Do

Anti Money Laundering

Combating money laundering has been the bedrock of the FITC. Our key strategies include legislation and enforcement, financial institutions implementing Know Your Customer (KYC), anti-money laundering (AML) policies, multi-layered approach of regulations, raising awareness and reporting suspicious activity.

Terrorist Financing

Terrorism activities including trafficking weapons, drugs or people, or kidnapping, has been a major global concerns for the decades. The FITC's has developed practices such as conducting complete risk assessments, establishing effective compliance and transaction monitoring program to restrict access to funding for suspected terrorists.

Proliferation financing

Our counter-proliferation strategies include strengthening international treaties, implementing robust export controls such as the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR), disrupting financial networks, reporting suspicious activities and using intelligence and law enforcement to intercept shipments and dismantle networks.

Environmental Crime

In preventing environmental crimes such as illegal acts that harm the environment, wildlife, and natural resources. The FITC has enhanced it's political will, implemented proactive law enforcement and judicial systems, leveraged technology for monitoring and empowered civil society and environmental defenders to educate the public.

Corruption

The FITC has developed an effective anti-corruption strategies built on structural changes, that create strong checks and balances and reduces opportunities for illegal activity. These includes Strengthening legal frameworks, increasing transparency and oversight, implementing e-government solutions, protecting whistleblowers and reformed public services.

Digitalisation

Digital platforms serve as a primary channel for terrorists to radicalize individuals and recruit new members. As that, the FITC has establish key strategies such as digital literacy, financial countermeasures, capacity building, content moderation and collaboration to combat the digital exploitation by terrorists.
